Our specimen tracking software solution fits all sample containers, all methods of transport and all IT systems. We do not change preanalytical steps – we improve them
The best
sample tracking software
Modular product and open technology
Get just what you need with different Transport Monitoring and Sample Collection modules, standalone or with full LIS /middleware integration.
Tailored to every user group (phlebotomists, couriers, lab staff) and with different access points (iOS and Android App, Web App) available in any kind of end device.
Our sleek hardware setup fits smoothly in any kind of workflow and sample container.
Reliable Sample collection
At sample collection, S4DX offers users maximum flexibility:
Specimens of any kind can be either scanned by the Samples App (available for iOS and Android) or our web-based S4DX Browser Scan that operates with any adjunct barcode scanner, adapting to any kind of existing customer workflow. Phlebotomists get sample handling guidance and list of tubes to extract, plus they are able to match patient-tube and to record patient status and order status comment for the laboratory.
Sample transportation - S4DX SmartTube and Courier App
Samples are tracked during transport by the S4DX Courier App, which records pick-up time, routing, GPS positioning and delivery for every courier driver. Our S4DX SmartTube Datalogger documents sample temperature (cooled, frozen, room temperature, warm), time and vibration events.
Powerful sample tracking data reports
S4DX sample tracking software for preanalytics provides insightful preanalytical data for various purposes. Fully compliant with ISO15189 standards, it is as well the perfect tool to monitor lab efficiency and quality KPI’s and to improve efficiency - inside and outside of the lab.
Automated Sample reception and data downloading
100% automated, S4DX sample tracking data boosts efficiency at lab entry, eliminating the need for manual work by enabling automated handover of samples to the analysers. Data from the collection sites and transport pick-ups is available in different overviews to the laboratory in real-time, so they know what specimens are coming in anytime.
S4DX Data Analytics
S4DX WebServices aggregates and analyses all sample tracking preanalytical data, providing labs and collection sites with unique insights to boost their TAT and improve performance.
Data is organized in different tabs and with tailored access management to various user roles so everyone sees just what they need (phlebotomist and collection sites, laboratory staff, administrators)
"With the S4DX sample tracking system, we save up to 6h daily on administrative work in our lab"
Jürgen Weghofer
CEO Synlab Austria
“We chose S4DX to help us comply with ISO 15189 and because they are a fully automated system with autoreceipting and auto downloading of data. Moreover, S4DX provides much more insights than most of the systems in the market”

Workflow
Check how your workflow could look like with a complete S4DX setup and start developing your own S4DX workflow tailored to your processes
How long samples stay at collection sites before being picked up to identify potential cooling or quality issues
Real-time duration between sample pickups at collection sites to identify inefficiencies in workflow
Predict transport arrival time and prepare your lab staffand machines upfront to start processing accordingly
Identify when and where (pick up location, specific transport box or car) samples exceed temperature limits, helping pinpoint issues like improper transport box closure or delays.
Gain insights into the most frequently used routes and adjust planning to reduce transit times and temperature risks.
Identify patterns (e.g. process, user or collection site driven) in labeling mistakes, patient mix-ups, or manual scanning errors to improve efficiency
Understand if phlebotomists follow proper procedures, such as immediate cooling of blood samples.
Use historical data to prevent recurring errors, such as identifying locations/times where most errors occur.
Samples upcoming are already known by lab staff, enabling efficient routing upon arrival and eliminating the need of rescanning.
Start lab receipting and administrative tasks before sample arrival to prepare processes and resources upfront, boosting staff efficiency and satisfaction.
Phlebotomists know in real time if orders are complete and all samples are checked in. Labs know in real time what the collection site activity is and can prepare themselves for sample reception at lab entry.
Resolve errors at the collection site: Incidences with samples can be tracked and solved on the spot, and results will be correlated to preanalytical data (e.g. specimen temperature) if relevant.
